First, consider installing timer lights. One means of protecting your property while you are on a vacation is to make it look like you are there. Your lights can be placed on timers both indoor and outdoors to keep intruders away. Second, double-check the locks on your doors and windows to make sure they are secured. Third, ask someone to keep an eye on your place. Just make sure that the person is someone you know and can rely on.

Finally, do not leave any of your valuable items visible. Move some objects that are visible from the yard or street so that they are not put on display for everyone to see. Leaving items in plain sight might entice burglars to break into your residence.
