The Two Oceans of Marketing

In every business, there is always a race for who sells the most products, gets the most profit, lands the most deals, and so on. Most marketing experts would tell you how to run various plans or strategies, but what they would not tell you is that there are two ways in cruising your goods past the competition.

In a time when just about anybody can open a company, here are two strategies that would give you better direction as set out on your journey in the world of commerce:

Red Ocean

In this theory, you choose to ' swim with the sharks' in a ' bloody battle'.

There has been a never-ending debate that the dynamic 'red ocean' is not necessarily a disadvantage when you are the most pliable, biggest and best 'shark'. Arguably, some companies assert that they prefer the ingrained competitive atmosphere of the this environment because it allows growth and vibrant progress: everybody will be trying their best to outdo everyone else.

Blue Ocean

In this theory, you avoid ' swimming into the bloodied sea'.

Similar to a Unique Selling Proposition or USP, you take advantage of the qualities that define you from the rest and avoid competition: you are your own niche. A lot of companies prefer this tactic because it allows innovative thinking and creativity. They would constantly be looking for incomparable upgrades to their products, thus promoting growth and quality among all merchandise.

How do you make these work for you?

You look at your goods and ask yourself which ones you want to prioritize: having all the profit OR having all the market to yourself? Having more sales or having recognition for breakthrough technology? Both theories have their own positive and negative qualities that you can rate accordingly.

Whichever ocean theory you choose to follow, you have to be ready for anything that could happen.
